Basketball Recap: Oaks Comes Up Short

If Oaks was riding high fresh off their 71-37 takedown of Success Unlimited Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oaks The Mighty Oaks fell 54-46 to the Ezekiel Academy Knights on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the The Mighty Oaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Knights are ranked 94th).

Ezekiel Academy was led to victory by Kelson Free and Elijah Taylor. Free went 5 for 7 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds, while Taylor went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerard Johnson, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Oaks now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Ezekiel Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Oaks will host Southern Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ezekiel Academy, they will head out to square off against Heritage Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
