Volleyball Recap: Sierra Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Sierra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Valley Christian Lions. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Big Valley Christian scored at least 21 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Hannah Threet paced Sierra's offense, picking up 12 kills. Threet got some help from Amari Currey and her two assists. Currey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Big Valley Christian found their leader in freshman Caitlin Echegoyen, who had 15 digs and three aces. Echegoyen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Big Valley Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

Looking ahead, Sierra will host Enochs at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Big Valley Christian, they have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Summerville on the 23rd.
