Softball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Newport's offense. They came up short against the Rivercrest Colts on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The defeat leaves the Greyhounds still looking for their first win of the season.

Newport's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Rivercrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will host Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Greyhounds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rivercrest, they will be playing at home against Paragould at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
