Volleyball Recap: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. Taylor Wildcats
Umatilla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Taylor Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August.
Umatilla actually scored more points across those five sets (106-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 12-25, 26-24, 15-13.
Despite the loss, Umatilla still got an impressive performance from Victoria Adkins, who had 61 digs and seven aces. Adkins is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Camryn Adkins was another key player, getting 19 digs and a block.
Even though they lost, Umatilla was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in four consecutive matches.
Umatilla's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Taylor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.
Umatilla didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Tavares on the 3rd. Taylor has also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Palatka on the 2nd.
