Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Grove Bison vs. Elk Grove Grenadiers

Buffalo Grove has gone 8-2 against Elk Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bison will head out on the road to square off against the Grenadiers at 4:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Buffalo Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Zurich and fell 4-3.

Buffalo Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. The Bison are 4-2 when Diaz posts two or more runs, but 3-18-2 otherwise.

Elk Grove couldn't beat Palatine on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Grenadiers fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 8-6. The Grenadiers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Ryan O'Malley stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Schwartz, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Buffalo Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20-2 record this season. As for Elk Grove, their record now sits at 7-17.

Buffalo Grove was able to grind out a solid victory over Elk Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Grenadiers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
