Volleyball Recap: Harlingen South Comes Up Short

Harlingen South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Rivera Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.

Danieli Gonzales paced Harlingen South's offense, picking up seven kills. Gonzales got some help from Meredith Nash and her 13 assists. Finally, Aralynn Tobias and Ayrah Espinoza kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Harlingen South's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Rivera, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Harlingen South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on the 22nd. As for Rivera, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Port Isabel on the 21st.
