Basketball Recap: Northwest Cabarrus Piles Up the Points Against West Rowan

Northwest Cabarrus won the last time they faced West Rowan and things went their way on Friday too. The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 67-33 blowout they got against the West Rowan Falcons. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Falcons are ranked 526th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why West Rowan lost, don't look at Evan Kennedy. Despite the final result, he posted ten points in addition to six assists and four steals. Those six assists gave Kennedy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Graham, who put up 12 points.

Northwest Cabarrus has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for West Rowan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Northwest Cabarrus will face off against Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Robinson will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Northwest Cabarrus surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Rowan, they will host Central Cabarrus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rowan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
