Baseball Game Preview: Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds vs. Pennsbury Falcons

The Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds are taking a road trip to challenge the Pennsbury Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Holy Ghost Prep was able to grind out a solid win over St. Augustine Prep, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

Nick Armitage tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Bergkoetter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in June of 2024. Another player making a difference was K.J. Freiband, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, while Pennsbury put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Council Rock South. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Hawks, sneaking past 2-0. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Golden Hawks on their field since May 15, 2023.

Pennsbury's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Holy Ghost Prep, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Holy Ghost Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Pennsbury in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
