Basketball Game Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars

Two dominant guards in Lauryn Uyemura and Olivia Klein are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Platte Valley Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Platte Valley was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Windsor Charter Academy on Friday. Everything went Platte Valley's way against Windsor Charter Academy as Platte Valley made off with a 66-40 victory. The Broncos pushed the score to 55-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Firebirds had little chance of recovering from.

It was another big night for Uyemura, who went 7 for 15 to rack up 19 points and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played. Bryla Bunting was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian entered their tilt with Liberty Common on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by the Eagles to the tune of 65-11. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.

Platte Valley better keep an eye on Klein. She was instrumental in Resurrection Christian's win, putting up 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Gillespie, who posted 15 points.

Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Platte Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Platte Valley took a serious blow against Resurrection Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-18. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Platte Valley was down 42-2.
