Baseball Game Preview: Snohomish Panthers vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks

Snohomish is 9-1 against Marysville-Pilchuck since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the Tomahawks at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Snohomish has five straight victories, Marysville-Pilchuck has 24 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Snohomish proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Meadowdale 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Trevor Vorderbruggen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Clark, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Landon Klein was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Marysville-Pilchuck fell victim to Lynnwood and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 7-0 to the Royals.

Snohomish's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Snohomish skirted past Marysville-Pilchuck 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tomahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
