Basketball Recap: Granville Central Comes Up Short

Granville Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost to the Louisburg Warriors on the road by a 58-39 margin. The match was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Louisburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Sheldon led the charge by going 6 for 9 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. That's the most steals Sheldon has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Harrison, who made all 8 shots he took to post 18 points.

Granville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Louisburg, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11.

Granville Central and Louisburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Granville Central will take on Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 552 places (584 vs. 32). Meanwhile, Louisburg (ranked 491st) will meet South Granville (ranked 137th) at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
