Baseball Recap: Grundy County Triumphs

Grundy County won the last time they faced Bledsoe County and things went their way on Monday too. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Eli Hancock tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Yates, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Easton Rymer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Grundy County's record now sits at 7-15. As for Bledsoe County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Grundy County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
