Basketball Game Preview: Bennett Tigers vs. Alameda Pirates

The Bennett Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Alameda Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bennett took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Fort Lupton 57-41. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bluedevils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jessica Venneberg was her usual excellent self, going 7-for-11 on her way to 16 points and six steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Emilee Venneberg was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Bennett was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Lupton only five assists.

Meanwhile, Alameda earned a 35-23 victory over Mitchell on Wednesday.

Bennett better keep an eye on Claire To. She was instrumental in Alameda's win, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave To a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Minerva Santos, who posted two points in addition to ten boards and three blocks.

Bennett's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for Alameda, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
