Volleyball Recap: St. Stephens Indians vs. Watauga Pioneers
St. Stephens came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Watauga Pioneers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat last Thursday.
Ady McHenry paced St. Stephens' offense, picking up six kills. McHenry got some help from Addison Smith and her 11 assists.
Leading Watauga to victory were Caroline Childers and Lilli Combs. Childers had 12 digs and two assists, while Combs had nine digs. Childers has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 29 times she's played.
St. Stephens' loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Watauga, the victory (which was their 22nd in a row) raised their record to 22-1.
Coming up, St. Stephens will face off against Charlotte Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Watauga, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Alexander Central on the 15th.
