The New Athens Yellow Jackets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They skirted past Valmeyer 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory New Athens has posted against Valmeyer since February 4, 2020.
It was another big night for Isaiah Lintker, who scored 30 points along with two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of New Athens' points. Tommy Dutkanych was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
New Athens has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Valmeyer, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
