Soccer Game Preview: Sexton vs. Portland

Sexton hasn't had much luck against Portland recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Athletics will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m.

Sexton fell victim to Eaton Rapids and their airtight defense last Thursday. They lost 14-0 to the Greyhounds.

Meanwhile, Portland hadn't done well against Pennfield recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 5-1 win. Considering Portland have won five matches by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Portland pushed their record up to 9-3-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six matchups. As for Sexton, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Sexton might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Portland in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Athletics avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
