Softball Recap: Falmouth Takes a Loss

Falmouth extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Marshwood Hawks. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Navigators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Marshwood's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Falmouth: they've now won four in a row.

For Marshwood's part, Laurali Shisler was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Shisler was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marshwood let Kelsie Strong and Keira Keaveny run wild. Strong went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Keaveny went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dorthy Ryan, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Looking ahead, Falmouth will take on Gorham at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Navigators surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marshwood, they will face off against Cheverus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Stags have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
