Football Recap: Lochlan Church Leads Horizon Prep's Defense on Friday

Calvin Christian came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Horizon Prep, but Lochlan Church wouldn't allow it. The Lions claimed a resounding 62-24 win over the Crusaders for which the team can thank Church, who rushed for 237 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 64 yards and one TD on only six passes. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Another player making a difference was Dane Petty, who rushed for 130 yards and one score on only nine carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 96-yard run.

Horizon Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Church led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Prad Parvataneni has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times he's played.

The victory got Horizon Prep back to even at 3-3. As for Calvin Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Horizon Prep and Calvin Christian will both be playing St. Joseph Academy the next time they take the field. The Crusaders will host the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Lions will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st.
