Baseball Game Preview: Garber Dukes vs. Hemlock Huskies

The Garber Dukes are taking a road trip to challenge the Hemlock Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Garber comes in on four and Hemlock on three.

Garber's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Birch Run 15-0. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Dukes this season.

Alex Mularz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mularz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Garber let Anthony Solinski and Nathan Foret run wild. Solinski went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Foret went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Foret is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Colton Jacobs also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Garber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Hemlock got the win against Ithaca on Thursday by a conclusive 15-0. Fans of the Huskies have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Garber's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Hemlock, their record is now 3-0.

Everything went Garber's way against Hemlock when the teams last played back in May of 2022, as Garber made off with an 8-2 win. Will the Dukes repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
