Basketball Recap: Fort Payne Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Payne faced off against Pell City on Friday. The Fort Payne Wildcats blew past the Pell City Panthers 60-39. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Pell City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zaniya Mitchell posted 13 points and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Mitchell. The team also got some help courtesy of Ebonecia Forman, who put up three points and three steals.

Fort Payne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Pell City, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Fort Payne didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-30 victory against Anniston on the 14th. As for Pell City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 48-19 defeat against Oxford on the 17th.
