Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks vs. Air Academy Kadets

The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks will face off against the Air Academy Kadets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheyenne Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Cheyenne Mountain will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Lewis-Palmer, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Cheyenne Mountain came out on top against Lewis-Palmer by a score of 74-64 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Air Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Discovery Canyon. While losing is never fun, the Kadets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Thunder are ranked 17th).

Cheyenne Mountain's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Air Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Cheyenne Mountain couldn't quite finish off Air Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 60-58. Thankfully for Cheyenne Mountain, Max Howery (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
