The West Jessamine Colts will face off against the Garrard County Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Jessamine is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
West Jessamine came out on top against Paul Laurence Dunbar on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Colts blew past the Bulldogs 13-2. The Colts haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Michaela Tate was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Tate was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, West Jessamine got a massive performance out of Paige Hobgood, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Hobgood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emerson Collins, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Garrard County narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lincoln County 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Lions have posted against the Patriots since April 19, 2021.
Emily Hounshell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 17 Ks.
On the hitting side, Garrard County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Garrard County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for West Jessamine, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Jessamine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Garrard County struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
