Baseball Game Preview: Schenectady Patriots vs. Albany Falcons

For the first time this season, Schenectady will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Albany Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Schenectady and three for Albany.

Schenectady came up short against Hoosic Valley on Thursday, falling 7-1.

Schenectady saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Verett, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. Ian Trotter also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Coxsackie-Athens hit Albany with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons fell 8-3 to the Riverhawks. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly five runs.

Albany now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Schenectady, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Schenectady might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Albany in their previous meeting on April 9th. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
