Preview: Republic Tigers vs. Liberty Bell Mountain Lions
The Republic Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Last Friday, Republic faced Almira-Coulee-Hartline in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Republic had to suffer through a rough 68-14 loss at the hands of Almira-Coulee-Hartline. Republic's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Liberty Bell can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They blew past Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian, posting a 64-30 victory on the road. Given Liberty Bell's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked first, while Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty Bell relied on the efforts of Lucien Paz, who threw for 148 yards and four touchdowns, and Remington Paz, who gained 120 total yards and three touchdowns. Paz hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Greyden Paz got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
With Republic's loss and Almira-Coulee-Hartline's win, both teams now sport identical 7-2 records.
