Basketball Recap: Douglass Takes a Loss

Douglass lost against Memphis Business Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Douglass Red Devils took a 78-63 bruising from the Memphis Business Academy Execs. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Execs are ranked 113th).

Memphis Business Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Larry Benson out in front who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 assists. The match was Benson's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Hopson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Memphis Business Academy, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Douglass will be playing in front of their home fans against Trezevant at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Douglass has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three games. As for Memphis Business Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Lakeland Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Business Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.4 points per game this season.
