Soccer Game Preview: Valdosta vs. Tift County

Valdosta hasn't had much luck against Tift County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will take on the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Valdosta has given up an average of 7 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Valdosta came up short against Richmond Hill, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Valdosta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Richmond Hill is ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Tift County made sure to put some goals up on the board against Atkinson County last Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Rebels a 4-0 shutout. Considering Tift County's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Tift County now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Valdosta, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Valdosta suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Tift County in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
