Recap: Westminster Lions vs. Garden Grove Argonauts
The Westminster Lions's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Garden Grove with a sharp 69-49 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westminster also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Westminster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matt Tran led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Ton, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
Westminster's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Garden Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Westminster will head out on the road to face off against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Katella is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Garden Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Segerstrom is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
