Preview: Hardaway Hawks vs. Harris County Tigers
After five games on the road, Hardaway is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Harris County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Hardaway was able to grind out a solid win over Brookwood, taking the game 45-35. Given Hardaway's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Brookwood is ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hardaway got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Akilah Shelton out in front who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The match was Shelton's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenaiya Hardy, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Harris County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 75-22 victory over Troup County. The win was nothing new for Harris County as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hardaway now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Harris County, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything went Hardaway's way against Harris County in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as Hardaway made off with a 71-45 win. Will Hardaway repeat their success, or does Harris County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
