Baseball Recap: Sanderson Has No Trouble Against Vance County

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Sanderson brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Vance County Vipers on Thursday. That looming 19-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

HAMPTON RIVERS looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sanderson is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Sanderson got a massive performance out of GAINES STALLWORTH, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave STALLWORTH a new career-high. MAX ALVIANI was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

With the win, Sanderson broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-11. As for Vance County, their defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Sanderson has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Enloe on the 14th. As for Vance County, they will square off against Crossroads Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
