Basketball Recap: Kendyl Bottomley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hamilton Heights

Connersville was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hamilton Heights on Saturday. The Connersville Spartans blew past the Hamilton Heights Huskies 61-38. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Huskies are ranked 349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Connersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendyl Bottomley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Bottomley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Ahniyah Bennett was another key player, going 6 for 13 on her way to 16 points and five steals.

Despite the loss, Hamilton Heights still got an impressive performance from Katie Brown, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists.

Connersville now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hamilton Heights, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Connersville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-40 win against New Castle on the 10th. As for Hamilton Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-35 victory against Logansport on the 10th.
