Softball Game Preview: Woodlake Tigers vs. Coalinga Horned Toads

The Woodlake Tigers will challenge the Coalinga Horned Toads at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodlake is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Woodlake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Golden West by a score of 8-5.

Meanwhile, Coalinga entered their tilt with Sanger West on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Hornets.

Cabella Redding spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chloe Sandoval was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Coalinga pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlake, their win bumped their record up to 27-1.

Everything went Woodlake's way against Coalinga when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Woodlake made off with an 11-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
