Baseball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage fell victim to La Porte and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Slicers by a score of 2-0. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Slicers earlier this season, when they won 16-2.

Hunter Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

Portage now has a losing record of 11-12-2. As for La Porte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season.

Portage and La Porte are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Indians will challenge Merrillville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for La Porte, they will welcome Warsaw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Slicers surely won't give up without a fight.
