Baseball Recap: Dixon Gets the Win

Dixon won against Trinity last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Morehead Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Trent Leal and Seth Vincent did most of the damage at the plate: Leal got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Vincent scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Vincent is becoming a predictor of Dixon's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Chris Tesgle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Dixon's record is now 8-9. As for Morehead, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Dixon will face off against Wilmington Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Morehead, they will host Reidsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
