Softball Recap: Ascension Catholic Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Ascension Catholic's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Northshore on Tuesday. The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs put the hurt on the Dunham Tigers with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lillie Young was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Sydney Viallon was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Theriot, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Ascension Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. Dunham's loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Ascension Catholic will take on French Settlement in a tournament on Friday. As for Dunham, they will face off against Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
