Basketball Recap: Mississippi School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

Mississippi School for the Deaf lost against Leake County on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs were outmatched by the Leake County Gators and fell 55-22. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-13.

Chloe Johnson and Jarmariah Johnson certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Chloe posted six points, while Jarmariah put up five points.

It was another big night for Daishone Turner, who went 10 of 19 en route to 23 points along with eight assists and five boards for Leake County. Turner's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sy'Ariah Wraggs, who scored four points in addition to ten rebounds and seven steals.

Mississippi School for the Deaf has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Leake County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mississippi School for the Deaf will head out to challenge Tournament Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Leake County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Taylorsville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
