Football Recap: Amherst Drops Season-High Score on Valentine

Amherst suffered their closest defeat since August 30, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Valentine by a score of 30-28. On the bright side, the 28- point effort marked the Broncos' highest-scoring contest to date.

Valentine can attribute much of their success to Parker Chavez, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one score. Chavez was even better on defense, picking up two sacks and making 21 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Amherst is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Valentine, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Amherst will take on rival Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Valentine is set to challenge their familiar foe Gordon-Rushville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
