Baseball Game Preview: Onalaska Hilltoppers vs. Holmen Vikings

For the second straight game, Onalaska will face off against Holmen. The Hilltoppers will be playing at home against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Onalaska made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Holmen, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hilltoppers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

For Holmen's part, they got a great performance from Aaron Ploszay as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Ploszay has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Brennon Metzler was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

Holmen pushed their record up to 13-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Onalaska, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
