Basketball Recap: Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Extends Winning Streak to Seven

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Vincent de Paul Academy Hawks by a score of 70-60. The Crusaders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jimmy Schleeter, who posted 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Schleeter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Joachim Burton, who had 22 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, St. Vincent de Paul Academy still got an impressive performance from George Spencer, who put up 22 points along with five boards and five steals. Thomas Stegall also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul Academy, their record now sits at 7-9.

Coming up, Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri will take on Guadalupe Centers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Guadalupe Centers has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for St. Vincent de Paul Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 48-32 win against Academie Lafayette on the 6th.
