Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Stratton Eagles
Kit Carson has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. The Kit Carson Wildcats and the Stratton Eagles will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kit Carson will be strutting in after a victory while Stratton will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kit Carson beat Springfield 39-34.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kit Carson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lindsey Mayhan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Mayhan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nadaya Buttry, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Stratton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. The game between Stratton and Merino wasn't particularly close, with Stratton falling 59-42. While losing is never fun, Stratton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Merino is ranked fifth).
Kit Carson pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Stratton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
