Hobbs is 7-0 against Artesia since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hobbs Eagles will host the Artesia Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hobbs has 18 straight victories, Artesia has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Hobbs is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked seventh at the time (Hobbs was ranked first). Hobbs blew past Farmington, posting a 67-31 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, in Tuesday's Canine Competition, Artesia didn't have enough. They lost to Roswell at home by a 57-38 margin on Tuesday.

Hobbs' victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Artesia, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-10.

Everything came up roses for Hobbs against Artesia when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 65-27 win. Will Hobbs repeat their success, or does Artesia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
