Baseball Game Preview: Two Rivers Raiders vs. Roncalli Jets

The Two Rivers Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Roncalli Jets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Two Rivers has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Two Rivers managed to slip by Valders the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Raiders came up short against the Vikings on Tuesday, falling 12-1. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Two Rivers saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Klinkner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Roncalli won against Manitowoc Lutheran on Saturday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Jets blew past Two Rivers 11-0. Considering the Jets have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Dominik Frozena and Kannon Kinsella did most of the damage at the plate: Frozena went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Kinsella went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Kinsella a new career-high. Michael Lamers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Roncalli hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

The win got Roncalli back to even at 8-8. As for Two Rivers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Two Rivers might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Roncalli in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
