Basketball Recap: Jellico Sets Scoring Season-High Against Rockwood

Jellico scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 85-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockwood Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (68), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Jellico lost, don't look at Trey Vann. Despite the final result, he went 13-for-24 en route to 35 points and five steals. The game was Vann's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Brandenburg, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 15 points and five rebounds.

Rockwood found their leader in sophomore Aiden Amonett, who went 10-for-14 on his way to 26 points and six boards. Laken Jolly was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jellico fell to 3-1. As for Rockwood, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Jellico didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 89-75 defeat against Smith County on the 28th. As for Rockwood, they will head out on the road to take on Coalfield at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th.
