Basketball Recap: California Military Institute Takes a Loss

If California Military Institute was riding high fresh off their 61-31 takedown of Hamilton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The California Military Institute Rough Riders took a blow against the Desert Christian Academy Conquerors on Friday, falling 68-40. The loss continues a trend for the Rough Riders in their matchups with the Conquerors: they've now lost six in a row.

Augustine Youssef continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Desert Christian Academy, going 11 for 16 on his way to 29 points and six rebounds. Youssef is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 15 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Garrison, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds.

California Military Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Desert Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

California Military Institute will venture away from home to challenge California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Christian Academy will take on Twentynine Palms in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Desert Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Twentynine Palms likes a good challenge.
