Football Game Preview: Xaverian Clippers vs. Holy Cross Knights

The Xaverian Clippers will face off against the Holy Cross Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Xaverian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 33-20 victory over Holy Trinity. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.

Richard Aiken continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 174 yards and three scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Xaverian is undefeated when Aiken posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian LaRocca, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Holy Cross ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Christ the King with a 14-8 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Xaverian better keep an eye on Madden Martinez. He was instrumental in Holy Cross' win, rushing for 51 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 132 yards on 12 of 25 attempts. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Martinez a new career-high.

Xaverian's record now sits at 7-4. As for Holy Cross, their record is now 7-3.

Xaverian beat Holy Cross 14-6 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
