Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Langley

Langley waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Lake Braddock Bruins. That's more bragging rights for the Saxons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Norah Jacques was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Jaina Fitzpatrick tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

Jacques wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Juliet Sayers, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Langley pushed their record up to 11-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Braddock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Langley will take on Yorktown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lake Braddock, they will face off against Woodson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
