Basketball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Hitchcock Bulldogs

Brazos hasn't had much luck against Hitchcock recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Brazos Cougars will take on the Hitchcock Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Brazos is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2024 on Friday. They lost 45-19 to East Bernard. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Cougars' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Meanwhile, Hitchcock waltzed into their game on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bobcats 95-27. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Bobcats are ranked 1513th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hitchcock's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.3 points over those games. As for Brazos, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.

Brazos came up short against Hitchcock in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 67-56. Can Brazos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
