Basketball Recap: Kendall Osborn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jellico over Wartburg Central

Jellico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They fell 62-51 to the Wartburg Central Bulldogs. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Jellico's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendall Osborn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Osborn a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Kloey Evans, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Myrah Hood continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wartburg Central, going 8 for 19 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Braylen Melton was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Jellico's record now sits at 1-16. As for Wartburg Central, they moved to 6-9 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Jellico has already played their next matchup, a 60-42 loss against Sunbright on the 17th. Wartburg Central has also already played their next contest (against Concord Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
