Basketball Recap: Geneva Victorious

Geneva hadn't done well against Madison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Geneva Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 victory over the Madison Blue Streaks. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Blue Streaks back in December of 2024, they had to take a 37-27 loss.

Madison lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mac Steele, who went 7 of 17 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakotah Aufdenberg, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Geneva and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Madison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneva will square off against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison, they will take on Harvey at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harvey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
