A Season-Best Performance from Robert Sanchez Leads Mercedes over Pace

Mercedes was led to victory by Robert Sanchez, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Sanchez rushed for 222 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 62 yards.

Sanchez is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Sharyland on Friday. Sanchez rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown the last time he and the Rattlers duked it out back in September.

Elijah Trevino Has Career Rushing Day

On Thursday, Edcouch-Elsa got the W thanks in part to Elijah Trevino playing the best football he has all season. Trevino rushed for 159 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Edcouch-Elsa, bringing their record for this year to 8-2. Trevino and Edcouch-Elsa will face off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
