Basketball Recap: McLoughlin Comes Up Short

McLoughlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 50-17 defeat at the hands of the Riverside Pirates. The Pioneers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-3.

Riverside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rocio Garay out in front who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Garay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzlyn Reyna, who posted nine points.

McLoughlin's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Riverside, they moved to 6-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

McLoughlin will face off against Pendleton at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for Riverside, they will square off against Umatilla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Considering Riverside has lost three straight at home and Umatilla four straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
